Perisic injury blow

Tottenham ace Ivan Perisic has suffered an ACL injury in his right knee and is likely to miss the rest of the season.

The veteran Croatian, 34, was hurt in non-contact training and will undergo surgery before beginning his rehabilitation.

Perisic has featured in all six of Tottenham's games so far this term.

Injuries mount

Pep Guardiola admits Manchester City's mounting injury list is starting to bite the Treble winners.

City only had six outfield players on the bench last night as they came from behind to beat Crvena zvezda in the Champions League.

That 3-1 victory came at a cost as Bernardo Silva picked up an injury to join Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic and John Stones in the treatment room.

Guardiola said: "We are in trouble but it is what it is.

"With the players we have, we will go for it. As long as we have that mentality, that is good.

"We have five really important players injured and to sustain that for a long time would be difficult."

Constant battle

Leah Williamson admits her career has been a constant battle against gender inequality.

England and Arsenal star Williamson, 26, is on the comeback trail after missing the World Cup due to an ACL injury.

Speaking at the United Nations' Sustainability Development Goals Summit in New York yesterday, she said: "The main thing when I look back on my journey is I unknowingly walked into a man's world.

"My whole career since has been a series of battles.

"I am representing a group of people who have been in the shadows for so long. I stand on the shoulders of great women that have paved the way.

"Now I'm in a position where I am encouraged to the be the strongest version of me mentally, physically and my whole self, which is an empowering thing."

Done deal

Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde has agreed to extend his contract until the end of June 2028.

The academy product, 19, will officially sign the new deal at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper tomorrow afternoon.

Cahill set to Roar

Everton legend Tim Cahill's son Shae has signed a multi-year agreement with A-League side Brisbane Roar.

Cahill Jr, 18, spent four years learning his trade with the Merseyside outfit's academy but the midfielder will now look to make an impact in Australia.

Roar CEO Kaz Patafta said: "We are pleased to announce the signing of Shae from Everton's academy.

"Securing such a promising young midfielder is a testament to our club's new vision of integrating youthful talent into our squad and first-team environment.

"Shae's addition promises an exciting era ahead for the Roar family."
