Five goalscorers to watch out for this weekend: Fuhrich means business against Mainz
Recommended bets:
- Back Harvey Barnes to score against Nottingham Forest
- Back Arnaud Kalimuendo to score against Le Havre
- Back Riccardo Orsolini to score against Lecce
- Back Chris Fuhrich to score against Mainz
- Back Bruno Fernandes to score against Aston Villa
Stuttgart are flying in the Bundesliga and should be looking to fill their boots against struggling Mainz with Chris Fuhrich tipped to find the net.
The German ace is one of five players we fancy for goalscoring honours around Europe this weekend.
Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle (Saturday, 5.30pm)
Harvey Barnes’ return from injury against Luton last weekend came at the perfect time for Newcastle with Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon now sidelined.
Barnes had been out for over four months but came off the bench to find the net in the 4-4 draw with the Hatters.
The former Leicester ace, who scored 13 goals in the top flight last term with Leicester, will enjoy taking on a Nottingham Forest defence which was worked hard by Bristol City in the week in their FA Cup fourth-round replay.
Le Havre vs Rennes (Sunday, 12pm)
Rennes are in good scoring form as they prepare to visit Le Havre in Ligue 1 on Sunday, with no player in better nick than Arnaud Kalimuendo.
The 22-year-old has found the net in five of his last seven appearances in all competitions, scoring a total of seven goals in that period.
Le Havre have not kept a clean sheet in the league since the end of November and Rennes have popped in 19 goals in their last seven league and cup matches.
Bologna vs Lecce (Sunday, 2pm)
Michel Aebischer’s suspension means Riccardo Orsolini should be restored to Bologna’s front three and he has to be licking his lips at the prospect of going up against Lecce.
Lecce have not kept a clean sheet since September whereas Bologna are in good scoring form, fresh from beating Sassuolo 4-2 last weekend.
Six-goal Orsolini missed out against Sassuolo but can find the net for a third time in four matches this weekend.
Stuttgart vs Mainz (Sunday, 2.30pm)
Chris Fuhrich has stepped up to the plate for Stuttgart this week and can cap an excellent eight days by scoring for a third successive game.
Lowly Mainz are the visitors to the MHPArena where Stuttgart have not failed to find the net all season.
Fuhrich has scored six league goals, most recently in last week’s 3-1 win at Freiburg. He followed that up by scoring in Tuesday night’s 3-2 loss at Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Pokal.
Fuhrich will play but could conceivably be just off the frontman if Denis Undav and Sehrou Guirassy are not fit.
Aston Villa vs Manchester United (Sunday, 4.30pm)
Bruno Fernandes has enjoyed more prolific goalscoring seasons at Old Traffod than this one but he still represents a potent threat at Aston Villa.
The Portuguese maestro has only scored three times in the Premier League this season, but has 11 in total for club and country with a couple of goals in the FA Cup last month.
He remains a key figure on set-plays and penalties and is part of a United side who are unbeaten in five games and starting to score easily.
They also beat Villa 3-2 at home on Boxing Day with Fernandes central to that win even if he did not get on the scoresheet.
He looks a big price to get his name on it this weekend.
