England have recalled Mark Wood to their bowling attack ahead of their Third Test with India, which begins in Rajkot tomorrow.

Durham quick Wood replaces off-spinner Shoaib Bashir in the tourists' solitary change, meaning they will field two seamers for the first time in the five-match series.

Ben Stokes' men will be looking to bounce back after India levelled the series at 1-1 with a comfortable 106-run victory in Visakhapatnam earlier this month.

And the England skipper admits surprising conditions prompted a change of thinking in the make-up of his side's bowling unit.

Stokes said: "I know it was a very long time ago when we played here but it looks a good wicket.

"Yesterday it actually looked quite English. It's a little bit different today.

"We weren't quite sure what we were going to do with the team but today made us realise that we are definitely going to go with two seamers.

"It just looks a good wicket. It's a bit platey. Over the five days, those plates might become a little bit uneven.

"There might be some reverse swing which brings Woody into the game — and Jimmy [Anderson] as well."

Meanwhile, concerns over Rehan Ahmed's participation have been quashed after the 19-year-old spinner's visa issues were resolved.

Ahmed encountered problems when returning to India following England's mid-series break in the United Arab Emirates due to only holding single-entry documentation.

Authorities have since issued him with a multiple-entry visa and Stokes praised the youngster's calm attitude during the upheaval.

He said: "It's always an anxious period but thankfully we've got it through this morning.

"The great thing about youth is they just take everything in their stride.

"I thought he handled a situation that could have affected quite a lot of people in a different way very well for such a young kid."

Stokes, who will earn his 100th England Test cap, remains convinced his troops can become the first visiting side to beat India on their own turf since 2012.

He added: "The focus is on this game and then everything after that.

"If we play to anywhere near our capability, we'll give ourselves a good chance of winning and the results will look after themselves."
