Mauricio Pochettino and his Chelsea stars had a night to forget on Tuesday

Eagle-eyed Chelsea fans spotted Mauricio Pochettino wearing brand-spanking new trainers as his side slipped to defeat at Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

And the Blues, in conjunction with sportswear giants Nike, have now revealed the sneakers he was patrolling the technical area in are the latest edition of the popular Pegasus 40 running shoe.

Despite giving the Argentinian an extra spring in his step, they did not bring him any luck as the Londoners were sunk by Hayden Hackney's 37th-minute goal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Boro at the Riverside.

But Poch, 51, will be hoping for a more positive result when his inconsistent star-studded squad welcome London rivals Fulham to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

And Blues fans can now copy the boss by snapping up a snazzy pair of Nikes made to match the club's training wear collection.

Featuring the Chelsea badge, the footwear is already being sported during gym sessions as the players are put through their paces at Cobham.

Not surpisingly, the club's official website suggests supporters will not be disappointed if they treat themselves to a pair.

An article on there states: "There is a springy ride for any type of running, with support and comfort for the arch of the foot and toes, whether logging many miles or squeezing in a speed session.

"Carefully placed cushioning gives balance and stability to all natural strides and running styles and provides a smooth transition from heel to toe.

"Nike React technology, a lightweight, durable foam, holds its shape run after run to give a consistent feeling. Paired with Zoom Air units in the forefoot and the heel, there is a bouncy, energised feel at toe-off.

"The trainer’s single-layer mesh creates an inviting feel and fit while the midfoot strap is shaped for all size of arches.

"The heel area optimises the landing and the waffle-inspired pattern provides traction, with an extra flex groove offering a smooth toe-off.

"All this and that bespoke Chelsea design look, too!"

So while Chelsea may be faltering on the pitch, it is safe to say Nike are doing all they can to ensure they look sharp — both on and off it.
