Tottenham vs Brentford predictions: Struggling Spurs set for more frustration
- Both teams have scored in nine of Tottenham's last 10 Premier League matches
- Brentford have drawn 14 matches this season — the most in the Premier League
- Recommended bet: Draw and both teams to score
Tottenham's hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League have been dashed by a run of four defeats in six matches including a 6-1 rout at Newcastle and a 3-2 loss at home to Bournemouth, and they could be in for another tough afternoon against Brentford on Saturday.
Spurs are limping towards the end of the season under Ryan Mason, their second interim manager of the campaign, and they look vulnerable favourites at home to the Bees
Brentford have had a terrific season and are just four points behind Spurs, having won three of their last four games against Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and West Ham.
Team news
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris remains sidelined for Tottenham along with Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon. Defenders Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga will be assessed.
Brentford's top goalscorer Ivan Toney starts a ban, while Keane Lewis-Potter, Pontus Jansson, Christian Norgaard and Thomas Strakoshka are still injured so Thomas Frank could name the same team who started last Sunday's home win against West Ham.
The stats
Both teams have scored in nine of Tottenham's last 10 Premier League matches.
Spurs have won only three of their 15 games against top-nine teams such as Brentford.
Four of Tottenham's last six matches have been defeats in which both teams have scored.
Only four of Brentford's 13 league victories this season have come away from home.
The Bees have been involved in 14 draws this term — the most in the Premier League.
Six of Brentford's 13 wins have been by a 2-0 scoreline.
Prediction
Ivan Toney's suspension is clearly a huge blow for Brentford but they beat West Ham 2-0 without their 20-goal striker last weekend and can play their part in an entertaining draw at Tottenham on Saturday.
The Bees have been involved in more stalemates than any other club in this season's Premier League and backing the Tie with Goals — a draw in which both teams score — looks a decent bet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Brentford have found wins hard to come by on the road although two of their four away victories were at Manchester City and Chelsea.
Spurs have struggled against the rest of the top nine all season, conceding 17 goals in their last six outings including a 2-2 draw at home to Manchester United.
All six of Tottenham's league stalemates this term featured goals at both ends and they came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in the reverse fixture at Brentford on Boxing Day.
Harry Kane is enjoying another phenomenal goalscoring season but the Spurs defence is in disarray and they may well drop more points against Thomas Frank's impressive visitors.
