Southampton are flying in both the Championship and the FA Cup and it is hard to see how lowly Huddersfield can put a spoke in the Saints’ wheel.

Russell Martin’s men extended their unbeaten streak to 24 games with a 3-0 win over Watford in the FA Cup to set up a dream trip to Liverpool in the fifth round.

But the Saints' boss insists his team will be focused wholly on Huddersfield at home this Saturday when the south coast club are a 5/19 shot with LiveScore Bet, with Town a massive 8/1 outsider.

Team news

Adam Armstrong and Sam Edozie, two of several omissions by Saints’ boss Russell Martin against Watford in the FA Cup on Tuesday, should come back in either side of Che Adams in the usual 4-3-3 formation.

New signing David Brooks is also pushing for a first start since moving from Bournemouth.

Huddersfield caretaker boss Jon Worthington is set to stick with his 4-2-3-1 formation after striking gold with a 4-0 romp past Sheffield Wednesday in his first game.

He will be without new frontman Rhys Healey while centre-back (and top scorer) Michael Helik is a doubt.

Key frontman Danny Ward is back in training but not ready to start.

The stats

Huddersfield striker Danny Ward is closing on a return but Saturday's trip to Southampton may come too soon

Southampton are unbeaten in 24 matches and have won 10 in a row at home, while they have conceded just three times in that streak.

Publicidad

Martin’s side have not conceded a first-half goal at St Mary’s since September.

Huddersfield are the division’s draw experts with 13 of them, with 11 of those being 1-1 scorelines.

The Terriers have won only twice on their travels — only Plymouth and Rotherham have won fewer away games.

Prediction

Jon Worthington is the proud owner of a 100 percent record after guiding Huddersfield to a stunning 4-0 triumph over Sheffield Wednesday in his first game since replacing Darren Moore.

The Town caretaker may only get one more shot and the chances are it is going to end differently, probably in a heavy defeat.

He has vowed that his lowly team are going to be positive at St Mary’s though just getting the ball off the team with a higher possession percentage than any team in any of Europe’s big five leagues, will be tough.

And their own goal will be peppered by a Southampton side who top the shots-per-game stats in tier two with almost 16 a match.

Saints are absolutely buzzing at the moment, swatting good sides aside and should have little difficulty seeing off Huddersfield and doing it well.
