Nicolas Jackson says Chelsea's 4-1 win over nine-man Tottenham can spark a change of fortunes.

The under-fire striker, 22, bagged a second-half hat-trick to bring his total to five Premier League goals as Spurs fell short despite fighting bravely against all odds.

Ange Postecoglou's hosts saw Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero sent off but they frustrated Chelsea until Jackson finally put the Blues 2-1 ahead in the 75th minute.

And after scoring two late strikes, the Senegal international thinks the Blues can build on their win after a sluggish start to the season.

Jackson told Sky Sports: "It was a difficult time for everyone in the team but now we are coming back slowly and I'm happy to score three goals.

"It's been difficult. It is for everybody. We were dreaming about this, winning big games.

"We will continue working hard and the confidence is coming slowly."

Stamford Bridge team-mate Cole Palmer, who cancelled out Dejan Kulusevski's opener before the break, paid tribute to Jackson.

He said: "It's been a difficult start for him, no hiding it, but he was brilliant tonight.

"He just needs to keep his head down and work harder in training and he will get more hat-tricks.

"It's easier playing against nine men but we knew we had to win the game when it went down to 10.

"And when it went down to nine especially we knew we needed to score, keep pressing and making the runs in behind because the line was so high."
