Millwall will look to ease their relegation fears and move to within three points of Preston when the two teams meet at The Den on Saturday in the Championship.

The Lilywhites are 12th in the table, but it is their form at the start of the season that is helping them sit in mid-table.

Millwall are only eight points above the relegation zone, and coach Joe Edwards has struggled to improve their fortunes since taking the reigns.

Team News

After joining on loan from Tottenham, defender Japhet Tanganga could make his first start for Millwall.

Murray Wallace is also expected to come into the starting XI as Edwards ponders making changes to his team.

Preston coach Ryan Lowe will hope to recall Freddie Woodman after the goalkeeper recently recovered from injury, while Duane Holmes will need to prove his fitness after a recent spell on the sidelines.

The stats

Millwall have lost three games in a row in all competitions, with two of those defeats coming at home.

The Lions have struggled at home for the majority of the season, winning just four games since August.

Publicidad

Preston have won just five of their last 22 matches in all competitions, and they have lost four in a row away from home.

Prediction

Saturday's match is one of just three in the second tier this weekend, with plenty of Championship teams still competing in the FA Cup.

The Lions have not been able to string results together at home and they are tumbling down the table as a result.

Thankfully for them, visitors Preston are struggling just as much, and it is only their first few results that are keeping them in mid-table.

Lowe's side have conceded goals for fun of late on the road, although four of those did come against Chelsea in the FA Cup third round.

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in their first meeting in October, but neither side have improved at the back since then.

With their rivals not in action due to their FA Cup commitments, both teams will be desperate to pick up a result to improve their current standing in the division, and we expect the goals to rack up at The Den.
