Buick expecting Arc run for Hurricane Lane

Jockey William Buick says he will be surprised if Hurricane Lane is not considered for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe after Wednesday's win in the Grand Prix de Paris.

The three-year-old arrived in Paris on the back of an excellent Irish Derby win at the Curragh last month and big things were expected.

But he probably exceeded those expectations after dominating the Longchamp race to win by six lengths.

The son of Frankel has now doubled his Group One tally for the season and Buick believes Charlie Appleby's charge would be perfectly suited to the prestigious Arc.

He said: "I'll be very surprised if the Arc is not a strong consideration for him. He ticks a lot of boxes. Obviously as well being a three-year-old - they have a great record in the Arc."

Chipotle set for Newbury outing

Royal Ascot hero Chipotle is primed for a run in the Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

The colt has had a wonderful start to his career, winning three of his four races.

Ascot was the highlight as he came across the line to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths in the Windsor Castle Stakes, despite being unfancied beforehand.

Now, the two-year-old is being readied for a run at Newbury on Saturday and jockey David Probert has picked up the ride in the absence of Charlie Bishop through suspension.

He admits he is relishing the opportunity to get aboard the Eve Houghton Johnson-trained horse.

Probert said: "He's a very exciting ride to get. He won decisively at Royal Ascot and looks the obvious one to beat.

"Charlie has always said to me that he thought this lad was going to be very special and potentially a Group One horse, so has Eve."

Lone Eagle set for King George run

Trainer Martyn Meade says Lone Eagle will be entered in the King George and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes at Ascot later this month.

Martyn Meade's Lone Eagle is set to run at Ascot later this month

His last run out saw him beaten by a neck in the Irish Derby by Hurricane Lane at Curragh. That followed on from an impressive showing in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes contest at Goodwood in May.

Meade admits it will be a tight turnaround but is confident his colt can compete in the Group One clash.

She said: "It's a good form boost and he's in good form himself. It's a big ask, a week on Saturday at Ascot, but I think that's where we'll go.

"That's the plan at the moment, to run in the King George."

Seven rivals for Snowfall

Snowfall will aim to win a second Classic as she enters the Irish Oaks at the Curragh on Saturday with seven rivals.

The Aiden O'Brien filly ended last season with only one win from seven starts but has improved massively since.

A Group Three win at York was followed by victory at Epsom in the Cazoo Oaks and now she will try and take that form across the Irish Sea.

Opponents come in the form of Divinely, Willow, and La Joconde - three other O'Brien-trained horses.

Elsewhere, O'Brien's youngest son Donnacha runs Nicest, who is one to watch after putting up a career-best effort last time out to be third in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot.
