Starman heads Sprint Cup entries 

July Cup winner Starman heads a list of 14 entries for the Sprint Cup at Haydock on Saturday. 

Ed Walker's four-year-old performed wonderfully at Newmarket in the Group One sprint and will aim for big honours once more. 

He could become just the third horse to win both races after Dream Ahead in 2011 and Harry Angel in 2017. 

Godolphin-owned Creative Force will also be heading to Haydock in an attempt to win at Group One level for the first time. 

Charlie Appleby's horse won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and was beaten by a neck at Goodwood last time. 

Archie Watson's Glen Shiel, who was runner-up last year and Art Power, who came fourth, are also entered. 

But Dragon Symbol, also trained by Watson, will not be involved despite coming third in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York. 

Golden Pal set for Breeders' Cup 

Nunthorpe Stakes flop Golden Pal will return to America to race in the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar, according to trainer Wesley Ward. 

A three-time winner in the States, the Uncle Mo colt displayed some sensational form despite returning later than planned this year due to injury. 

Ward decided to target the Group One race at York in the hope of winning it for the first time following a couple of second-place finishes with Acapulco and Lady Aurelia. 

But while he showed blistering speed at the start of the race, he faded away badly, finishing seventh, five lengths behind winner Winter Power. 

Ward plans to give him one more outing before the big Breeders' Cup race at Del Mar. 

He said: "We'll make a decision on whether we run him in the Woodford here at Keeneland [October 9] and then aim for the Breeders' Cup — I think that will be the plan.

"Hopefully he can run right here on his home track and he'll bounce forward right into the Breeders' Cup and show what he is." 

Newmarket up next for Perfect Power 

Richard Fahey's colt Perfect Power will go for the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket next month after opening his Group One account at the weekend. 

The two-year-old has shone in his debut year, winning three of five races. 

He claimed the Group Two Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot before stepping up again in the Prix Morny at Deauville, winning by one-and-a-quarter lengths ahead of Trident. 

Connections now feel he is ready to race again next month and are impressed by the son of Ardad's progress. 

Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, said: "He looks like being a decent horse. Any horse that quickens like that has got a huge advantage over anything else.

"It will be the Middle Park next and then we'll see about next year." 

Newmarket option for Benbatl 

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor says Benbatl could try for a second win in the Joel Stakes at Newmarket next month after an encouraging reappearance at Goodwood. 

The seven-year-old had not raced for 11 months but came within a shoulder of winning the Group Two Celebration Mile, with Lavender's Blue taking the spoils. 

But Bin Suroor was very happy with how the triple Group One winner ran and is now looking ahead to a race which has yielded happy memories. 

He said: "He came back from the race very good — he's happy and fresh. I think there is an option to run him in the Joel Stakes at Newmarket."
