Brentford came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Leicester and pile on the misery for Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers.

The Foxes are the only Premier League side yet to make a first-team signing this summer — and failure to secure the win will hardly have lifted the mood at the King Power Stadium.

Timothy Castagne opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall doubled up within a minute of the restart.

Ivan Toney halved the deficit for the Bees after 62 minutes before Josh Dasilva scored his first Premier League goal four minutes from time to snatch a point.

Speaking post-match, Rodgers felt his side should have been better in possession to secure the win.

He said: "I'm disappointed with the goals. The first was a lack of concentration from a throw-in and they scored from a space that hadn't been there before.

"It changes the momentum at 2-1, they throw everything at it, we need to be better with the ball, control the game, but their pressure pays off.

"We can engage much higher for the second goal."

He added: "There were lots of positives, [Danny] Ward playing, he was very assured. We looked strong at set-pieces. I’m frustrated for the players."

Leicester dominated for long periods at the King Power Stadium before being hit by a Brentford sucker punch

Opposite number Thomas Frank said: "I just think this group of players, they just have so much determination and their mentality is crazy in the way they worked their way back into the game.

"Of course, we made a few changes and changes to the system with a lot of offensive players. But that's something we've been practising and we've wanted to do.

"Then the way it paid off was a fantastic feeling, especially with the story of Josh Dasilva."

Did you know?

This was the first time Leicester had failed to win a home Premier League game after going 2-0 up since August 2003.

Since winning promotion from the Championship in 2021, no top-flight side has conceded more goals from outside the box than Brentford's 13.

Conversely, the Foxes have scored the third-most goals from outside the penalty area (32) since Rodgers' appointment in March 2019. Only Manchester City (46) and Southampton (33) have more.

Since the start of the 2021-22 season, Brentford are behind only Liverpool (21) and Tottenham (17) for collecting points (16) from losing positions in the Premier League.

James Maddison's 13 top-flight goal involvements in 2022 (seven goals and six assists) are bettered only by one Englishman this calendar year — Harry Kane (21).

All 13 of Toney's league goals since winning promotion with Brentford have come from inside the box. No Bees player has been involved in more goals than his 18 (13 goals and five assists).
