Leeds will be aiming to further underline their Championship promotion credentials when they welcome poor travellers Plymouth to Elland Road on Saturday.

Daniel Farke's side, who were beaten in last season's play-off final, head into the weekend sitting third in the standings and they have only lost once in 12 league matches to date this term.

The Pilgrims, meanwhile, are just a place and a point above the relegation zone and have yet to win on the road this season, losing six of their seven such games across all competitions.

Team news

Leeds will be forced into at least one change to their starting XI as Jayden Bogle is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Bristol City last time out, although fellow full-back Junior Firpo is available again after a similar ban.

Publicidad

Largie Ramazani (ankle), Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu (both knee) remain on the treatment table, but Maximilian Wober has returned to training following his own recent knee issue.

Plymouth winger Ibrahim Cissoko will serve the final match of his three-game ban after being sent off in the defeat at Cardiff, while goalkeeper Conor Hazard and defender Brendan Galloway (both ankle) remain unavailable.

The Pilgrims with also have to make do without captain Joe Edwards, who is expected to be sidelined until the New Year with the hamstring injury he suffered in last weekend's home draw with Preston.

Wayne Rooney has yet to deliver an away victory as Plymouth manager

The stats

Leeds are unbeaten in their last seven Championship games and have won three on the bounce at home against Coventry, Sheffield United and Watford.

Publicidad

The Whites won three of their four meetings with Plymouth last season, drawing the other, and they have not lost home or away to the Pilgrims since going down 1-0 at Home Park in April 1989.

Wayne Rooney's Plymouth hold the worst away record in the Championship this season, taking one point from their six games, while they have also scored just once on the road, conceding 13 times.

The Pilgrims' last away success came at Rotherham in early April, while they have not beaten Leeds at Elland Road in over 62 years.

Prediction

The Championship rarely throws up a fixture where the result seems pretty clear cut, but Leeds should be able to see off Plymouth with something to spare on home turf.

Farke's promotion chasers may have been frustrated on the road at Bristol City last time out, but at Elland Road they have won four of their last five Championship games, with three of those successes coming by a two-goal margin or more.

Another win should follow for Leeds on Saturday, with Plymouth yet to pick up an away success since Rooney's arrival in the dugout, a run that includes them being thrashed 4-0 at Sheffield Wednesday and 5-0 at Cardiff.

While Saturday's scoreline might not be quite as emphatic – although it cannot be completely ruled out – Leeds should still win this one comfortably and, in doing so, add to Plymouth’s away woes.
