Bukayo Saka picked up right where he left off last season against Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal's star winger produced an unstoppable first-half strike that proved vital in the Gunners claiming all three points after Taiwo Awoniyi pulled a goal back late on.

The 21-year-old will be hoping his impressive performance is the start of another strong campaign with the North Londoners.

As Arsenal gear up for a tricky test against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, we analyse Saka's numerous qualities.

Firing against Forest

Saka put Forest to the sword with his direct dribbling and runs in behind the defence.

Against Steve Cooper's side, he led the way among Arsenal players for chances created and shots taken, illustrating his ability to lead the team's attack.

And Saka's match-winning goal was particularly eye-catching, as he allowed the ball to run across his body before curling a sublime left-footed strike into the far corner.

Top drawer

Chelsea legend Joe Cole believes Saka is already among the best wingers in the world.

He said: "I don't think there's anyone else in world football, apart from maybe the main man who's on the slide now, [Lionel] Messi, who has got a left foot as good as his coming in from that position. It is exquisite.

"We all wax lyrical about him here but I still think he's such a gem, we're so lucky to have him and this club's lucky to have him.

"He's got such great ability and he's standing shoulder to shoulder with all of the players in his position in world football."

Hard worker

Bukayo Saka showed off his numerous talents against Nottingham Forest

Saka's start to life at the Emirates began at left-back and that education has produced a winger who is both willing and capable of helping out his defenders.

He worked hard off the ball against Forest and registered a team-high five tackles, an impressive feat for an attack-minded player.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta demands a high work-rate from his forwards and Saka regularly delivers the goods.

Brick by brick

Saka is not one to rest on his laurels and believes there is still room for him to develop, suggesting as much after the win over Forest.

The England international said: "I have a lot to improve. I think dealing with different games, for example playing against two-vs-one, how I'm going to manage myself.

"I think other games where I don't have a lot of shots, like even today I don't think I had a lot of shots, I want to leave the game with more shots because then I have more chance of scoring.

"Then of course my right foot, my heading, there are a lot of things to improve."

Selhurst test

Next up, Arsenal face Palace, who got off to a winning start against Sheffield United.

The Eagles' centre-back partnership of Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen combined for four tackles and eight clearances against the Blades and will look to replicate that solid showing.

Arsenal, though, will trust that Saka has all the tools necessary to help them break down a stubborn Palace side and build on their own positive start to the season.
