Hull are rooted to the foot of the Championship table and will be desperate to change the situation when taking on mid-table Swansea in their final fixture before Christmas Day.

The Tigers were play-off contenders last term – finishing just three points outside of the top six – but they have a very different squad this season and have mustered only three wins from 21 league matches.

Ruben Selles has been at the helm for just two games, presiding over a 1-1 draw at home to Watford and a 2-1 loss at Coventry.

Swansea are sitting much more comfortably in tenth place although they will be looking for a response after last Saturday’s 3-2 loss at home to Sunderland.

Team news

Andy Smith (leg) Harvey Cartwright (hand) and Carl Rushworth (ankle) are unlikely to return and Mohamed Belloumi and Liam Millar (both knee) are long-term absentees for the hosts.

Publicidad

Mason Burstow was a half-time substitute in last Saturday's loss at Coventry and is pushing to make his third league start of the campaign.

The visitors are missing Oliver Cooper (foot), Sam Parker (hamstring), Andy Fisher (groin) and Josh Ginnelly (muscle strain).

Veteran midfielder Joe Allen (leg) hopes to feature over the Christmas period, but the Hull match may come too soon.

Veteran Wales midfielder Joe Allen is currently sidelined but hopes to be back in action in the near future.

The stats

Hull have not won any of their last 13 matches and the Tigers have scored less than two goals in each of those fixtures.

Publicidad

Six of Hull’s last seven home games have featured less than three goals.

Swansea have scored two or more goals in five of their last six matches, while four of the Swans’ last five wins have been by a 2-1 scoreline.

Prediction

Swansea squandered a two-goal lead in last Saturday’s 3-2 loss at home to Sunderland, but they have made reasonable progress in recent weeks and should be too strong for out-of-sorts Hull, who are facing a tough fight for Championship survival.

After struggling for consistency in the early part of the season, the Swans raised their level from the beginning of November and have climbed from 17th to tenth in the table.

They have been strong on their recent travels, taking seven points from the last three road trips and have a wonderful opportunity against Hull, who haven’t tasted victory since a 3-1 triumph at QPR on October 1st.

The Tigers were hoping for a bounce under their new manager Ruben Selles, but they have taken just one point from their last two matches, despite taking the lead in both games.

The hosts seem to be finding different ways to lose and their struggles look set to continue.
