John to a winner

Heung-Min Son cannot wait to line up alongside new Tottenham signing Brennan Johnson.

Johnson, 22, sealed a dramatic deadline-day move to Spurs from boyhood club Nottingham Forest last week, signing a six-year deal.

The Wales international could lock horns with his new skipper when they face South Korea in a friendly tonight but Son feels the duo can forge an exciting partnership when club football returns.

Ahead of the clash in Cardiff, the 31-year-old said: "Brennan is another new player. He showed his quality last year at Nottingham Forest and I can't wait to see him with my eyes.

"He's a very good player and he has a very good talent. Welcome to Spurs! I can't wait to play with him. It's only been four games and we're looking to keep going in a positive way with our new signing Brennan.

"When he comes to Spurs he wants to improve and go to the next step. He will feel the pressure but I can't wait to have him in our team playing even better fast and attacking football."

Take a Chil pill

Ben Chilwell has been captaining Chelsea in Reece James' absence

Ben Chilwell admits Chelsea have performed below expectations so far this season but is confident they will come good under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues have picked up four points from their opening four Premier League games, most recently falling to a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge last Saturday.

England international Chilwell said: "You know, [we're] not probably where we'd want to be. I think there are a lot of positives but, of course, the results are the main thing.

"Obviously two losses and a draw from three games that we’d expect to win isn't where we'd want to be.

"I think a lot of people probably look at it as an excuse but we do have a very young squad with a lot of very new players, a new manager.

"It has taken a bit longer than we'd hoped but we're all very confident in the building that we have such a talented squad and a great manager that it will come good very soon."

Jorginho open to Serie A return

Jorginho has made three substitute appearances for Arsenal this season

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho would be open to a move back to Serie A, his agent has confirmed.

The Italian playmaker joined the Gunners from London rivals Chelsea last January, having spent four-and-a-half seasons at Stamford Bridge after spells in Italy with Napoli and Hellas Verona.

He made 16 appearances during the second half of last season under Mikel Arteta but has played just 17 minutes in the Premier League this term.

The 31-year-old's representative Joao Santos told Tutto Napoli: "Italy is always in our hearts, never say never.

"If there is an Italian team that needs Jorge and his characteristics, we will see what will happen.

"Jorginho’s characteristic is unique and needed by all teams in the world. When the coach needs that characteristic he will call Jorge."

Hojlund surprises Casemiro

Casemiro played alongside Rasmus Hojlund for the first time against Arsenal

Rasmus Hojlund has revealed team-mate Casemiro said he was "pleasantly surprised" by the Danish forward's encouraging Manchester United debut against Arsenal.

The summer signing from Atalanta was introduced in the 67th minute at the Emirates and put in a lively display despite the Red Devils slipping to a late 3-1 defeat.

Hojlund, 20, told Danish outlet Bold: "Casemiro hadn't seen me play so he also told me after the match that he was pleasantly surprised by me."

On his summer switch, he added: "There was a lot of interest but, for me, Manchester United has always been the first priority.

"The interest and many of these rumours happened early in the period when I made my breakthrough in the national team.

"Since then, there has been a nice dialogue and then something happens when the window opens, when it really gets going."

The World Cup-winning centre-back was forced off in the 67th minute against Arsenal last Sunday, with Harry Maguire taking his place.

The extent of the issue was not initially known but La Albiceleste boss Lionel Scaloni has confirmed it will keep him out of the clash in Buenos Aires.

Scaloni said: "Licha, as you know, had an issue with his feet.

"In the last game [at Arsenal], he was in pain and went out for precaution. They have done studies and he's well.

"We'll evaluate whether to use him or not. At first, for tomorrow's match, it'd be a little rushed. We'll see for the second match."

Roman empire

Norwegian striker Sophie Roman Haug believes "they are building something big" at Liverpool after joining the club from Roma.

The 24-year-old, who starred for her country at the Women's World Cup this summer with a hat-trick against the Philippines, is the Reds' seventh arrival of a busy summer on Merseyside.

Haug told the club's official site: "I've got a really good impression of the club and I believe that they're building something big here and I would really like to be a part of it.

"It's a club with a lot of long traditions and with a lot of ambition. I really hope to be able to contribute with a lot of goals.

"I have a lot of faith that the team will do a great season. I'm excited to also be able to play in what might be the biggest league in the world."
