- Everton have won six of their last nine matches
- Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals

Just when it seemed Everton were defying those who thought they were in for another relegation struggle, the Toffees have been hit by a 10-point deduction that has them again fighting against the drop.

Manchester United, who are sixth in the table despite having scored just 13 goals, head to Merseyside looking for a fourth successive away league victory after recent successes at Burnley, Sheffield United and Fulham.

Team news

Everton should be able to welcome back full-back Seamus Coleman from a long-term knee injury.

Amadou Onana has a calf problem and is doubtful while Dele Alli and Andre Gomes are still missing.

Luke Shaw should be available for United having overcome his thigh problem.

Striker Rasmus Hojlund faces a late test while Mason Mount is doubtful.

The stats

Erik ten Hag's United may have won four of their last five league games but they have scored only scored six goals in that run

Manchester United have won four of their last five league games.

Publicidad

Both teams have scored in seven of the last 10 meetings.

Six of United’s last eight league away games have featured fewer than three goals.

Everton have won six of their last nine matches.

There has not been a draw in Manchester United’s last 19 league games.

Prediction

The fact Everton have fallen foul of the Premier League’s financial rules and received a ten-point penalty could galvanise them now Sean Dyche’s side can finally concentrate on events on the field.

But they have not actually been going that badly, even though three of their four wins have come on the road.

There has always been a tendency for Toffees fans to be frustrated by their home performances and they have won just one of their six at Goodison Park this term and this looks like a game where a lot of goals seems unlikely.

Even though they are likely to have been stirred up by recent events, Everton have scored more than once in just one home match this term and conceded more than once in just one other.

And they face a Manchester United side who, despite their top-six standing, have scored just 13 goals in 12 league games.

Consequently, the price available for there being under 2.5 goals looks one that is worth taking.
