Everton look to build on their midweek win in the Carabao Cup as they target their first points of the Premier League season when Bournemouth visit Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Cherries were eliminated from the cup at the hands of West Ham and head to Liverpool having drawn their opening two league assignments.

Team news

Seamus Coleman and James Garner both returned to Everton’s starting lineup in midweek and could feature again on Saturday after recovering from calf injuries, while Ashley Young is also available following his suspension.

Jarrad Branthwaite remains sidelined, though, while Youssef Chermiti is a long-term absence with a foot injury.

Bournemouth’s injury concerns remain unchanged, with the trio of Tyler Adams, Enes Unal and David Brooks all expected to miss out once again.

The Toffees have won their last two home matches against Bournemouth.

The Cherries are winless after three competitive games this season.

Prediction

Heavy defeats to Tottenham and Brighton have put Everton on the back foot this season, but a midweek win in the Carabao Cup may boost confidence enough for them to claim a first Premier League win of the season on Saturday.

The Toffees beat Doncaster 3-0 on Tuesday and welcomed both Seamus Coleman and James Garner back to the team, and they will be hoping that duo can help them to a win over a Cherries outfit that have struggled on the road.

Andoni Iraola’s side lost 1-0 at the London Stadium in their midweek cup clash and remain winless this season after successive 1-1 draws in the league.

They have won just one of their last seven away games in all competitions and have lost on five occasions, so it could be another difficult afternoon for Bournemouth fans.

Sean Dyche’s men have struggled so far, but Spurs and Brighton are both tougher challenges than an out-of-form Bournemouth and Everton did end last season with an excellent spell of home form.

They won their final five home league games and did not concede a single goal, while the visiting Cherries have scored five and conceded 12 in their last seven on the road, so the hosts could claim a crucial three points.
