Chelsea boss Emma Hayes was pleased with what she saw from January signing Mayra Ramirez as the Blues swept past Everton in the Women's Super League.

Guro Reiten scored two penalties before Erin Cuthbert rounded off a comfortable 3-0 win at Kingsmeadow to see the champions reclaim top spot.

Manchester City had briefly overtaken the Londoners after beating Leicester earlier in the day but a dominant Chelsea performance ensured they remain the team to beat.

And although she was not on the scoresheet, Hayes had nothing but positive words for Colombia international Ramirez after the match.

She said: "You can see Mayra's obvious physical qualities and she's surprisingly quicker than I thought.

"I was impressed because we've only had a handful of sessions with her where we've had to translate a lot.

"We've been able to give her limited knowledge and her application of that was great.

"I think she's going to ruin a few defenders. She's so physical and when you think she's not going to win things she will just shove you out of the way. It's not a bad debut."

Everton's assistant manager Stephen Neligan also handed the striker a few compliments, saying: "I think it was a big challenge.

"She's a player we haven't seen a lot of in the league. Some players take time to settle but she showed her quality straight away.

"You're not only dealing with her size but her speed as well and players of that quality will hurt you at times."
