Crystal Palace will be looking to climb out of the relegation zone with a long-awaited win, but they face tough opposition in the shape of Ange Postecoglou’s in-form Tottenham side.

Spurs have won seven of their last eight games, beating West Ham 4-1 in another London derby last weekend, which they followed with a 1-0 victory against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday.

Team news

Chadi Riad, Chris Richards and Matheus Franca will all be unavailable through injury, but Cheick Doucoure could be fit again.

Tottenham’s only injury worry is Djed Spence who has been out with a groin issue, with Heung-Min Son, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert all having returned to action since the international break.

Postecoglou must decide whether to start with James Maddison in midfield or Pape Matar Sarr, with the latter having replaced the England international at half-time to good effect in the victory over West Ham.

The stats

Oliver Glasner is struggling to find the form that turned Crystal Palace's season around last season

Crystal Palace are one of only four teams yet to win a top-flight game this season, alongside Southampton, Ipswich and Wolves.

Publicidad

Tottenham have won only four of their last 17 away matches in the Premier League.

The Eagles’ 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Monday night was the third time that they had failed to score in their last four games.

Spurs have won each of their last five matches against Crystal Palace.

Prediction

Crystal Palace are struggling to replicate the form that they found when their manager Oliver Glasner was appointed last season.

Their total of five goals from eight games is the lowest of any Premier League club, with Eberechi Eze and Eddie Nketiah both hitting the woodwork in their most recent loss to Nottingham Forest.

In contrast, only Manchester City have scored more Premier League goals than Tottenham, who crushed West Ham last weekend in a second-half blitz.

With the likes of Son, Richarlison and Odobert returning over the last week, Postecoglou’s attacking options have seriously swelled, which should increase their ability to kill off away games.

Yet with Tottenham having dropped so many points on the road, it may pay to avoid predicting the result and instead bank on there being plenty of efforts on target, with the visitors always looking open on the break.
