It's the final day of the biggest festival in racing. The highlight of the day is without doubt the Gold Cup, which takes place at 3.30, but there’s is also the Triumph Hurdle & Albert Bartlett, which are both competitive Grade 1 races before the main dish.

Gold Cup – Cheltenham 3.30, March 15

Key talking point: Can Galopin go back to back?

All eyes will be on the Gold Cup, and particularly Galopin Des Champs, to see if he is able to win back-to-back Gold Cups.

He goes in with strong claims, and is arguably even better than he was last year. He faces eleven rivals this year, which includes Bravemansgame, who finished second last year, Fastorslow, who has beaten him twice before, Hewick, who won the King George at Kempton & Gerri Colombe. Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle – Cheltenham 2.50, March 15

Key talking point: Can Dancing City do it again for Danny?

Willie Mullins has won the Albert Bartlett on three of the last ten renewals, and he looks likely to get a fourth, with a strong team of five in the race.

The one with the best chance looks to be Dancing City, who was impressive when landing the upset at the Dublin Racing Festival last month. He looks a proper stayer in the making, and should be suited with the testing ground.

Britain's champion trainer Paul Nicholls has some leading day four contenders at Cheltenham

County Hurdle – Cheltenham 2.10, March 15

Key talking point: Can Britain get another handicap on the board?

Publicidad

The British have done well in handicaps this week and the home team have a respectable recent record in this event, unlike most races at the Festival.

There are plenty in with claims but this could be a good chance for a Paul Nicholls runner.

Afadil looks back in form and could be well handicapped to win off a mark of 130. He was a real eye-catcher the way he won at Ayr last season, but failed to find the same form on seasonal reappearance.

He’s had a few lacklustre performances since but looked back to his best when winning at Musselburgh.

You won’t find many better conditionals than Freddie Gingell, who already has a Grade 1 win in his career and he is well worth his 5lb claim.

Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle – Cheltenham 5.30, March 15

Key talking point: Who is the star for the future?

This often goes to a real nice prospect for the future. It’s worth noting that Gold Cup winner, Galopin Des Champs won this a few years ago, beating Langer Dan who has won twice at the Festival since (including earlier in the week).

Gordon Elliott’s six-year-old looks very well treated off a mark of 140, having finished fourth, five and a half lengths behind Supreme winner Slade Steel, he was then beaten by Asian Master when dropping back down in trip,  who also ran a good race in the Supreme.

He looks better when going over further and with the conditions getting tough, that makes him a big player here.
