Casemiro and Martinez out until Christmas, Ten Hag announces
Manchester United duo Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez will be out of action until at least Christmas, according to manager Erik ten Hag.
The Brazilian midfielder was injured on international duty in October and only managed 45 minutes of last week's Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle before coming off again.
Martinez, meanwhile, has not featured since the 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in September and has had surgery on a foot issue.
United travel to FC Copenhagen for a crucial Champions League match on Wednesday but will be without their experienced pair.
Ten Hag said: "I have some time schedules but it's always difficult to predict that because they can get setbacks during the rehab period.
"Casemiro and Martinez are really strong injuries and I don't expect them back before Christmas.
"It's several weeks."
There was better news on Marcus Rashford, though, who is fit to return to United's line-up after missing the weekend victory over Fulham.
Rashford failed a late fitness test before that visit to Craven Cottage — and should be joined in Denmark by Harry Maguire, who has come through concussion tests after a knock to the head in West London.
Ten Hag's side sit third behind Galatasaray and Bayern Munich in Group A but their destiny remains in their own hands after they scraped past Copenhagen at Old Trafford last month.
The 2008 champions of Europe must still travel to Turkey before hosting the German champions in a potentially decisive final group stage game in December.
They host Luton in the Premier League on Saturday.
