Brentford to win & over 2.5 goals

Brentford were unfortunate not to beat Manchester United on Saturday and their performance in that 1-1 draw should encourage them for their home Premier League clash with Brighton on Wednesday.

The Seagulls put in a commendable show in losing 2-1 at Liverpool on Sunday, but they have lost five of their last six league away games and need to improve that record if they are to secure European football for next season.

Team news

Brentford will be able to welcome back left-back Sergio Reguilon after suspension, while hopes are high that Christian Norgaard and Ethan Pinnock will both be available after injury.

However, Kevin Schade, Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry, Ben Mee and Josh Dasilva are all out.

Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour will miss out with a knee injury while the trip to west London is set to come too early for both Julio Enciso and Joao Pedro.

Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March and James MIlmer will also sit out.

The stats

Roberto De Zerbi will be concerned with Brighton's away form with just two wins from their last 13 league games on the road

Brentford have kept just one clean sheet in their last 20 league matches.

Publicidad

There have been at least three goals in 12 of Brentford’s 15 home league games this season.

Both teams have scored in 11 of the Bees’ last 14 league outings.

Brighton have won only two and lost eight of their last 13 Premier League away games.

Brighton have conceded at least twice in nine of their last 13 league games on the road.

Prediction

Brentford dominated their game against Manchester United at the weekend and despite the fact their winless run extended to seven league matches, they should be confident they can get the better of Brighton on Wednesday.

The Bees had 31 shots against the Red Devils while fortune did them no favours as they hit the woodwork four times.

There are concerns about Brighton’s away form as they have won just two of their last 13 league games on the road and the only road match they have not lost in their last six was at bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United.

So Brentford could have the edge despite the fact they started the round of midweek fixtures just five points above the drop zone.

Plenty of goals can also be expected at the Gtech Community Stadium, especially if Thomas Frank’s side remember their shooting boots this time.

Just three of Brentford’s 15 home games have failed to generate at least three goals and the same can be said of four of Brighton’s 15 matches on the road, so go for a home win with over 2.5 goals in the clash.
