Blackburn vs Bristol City predictions: Tight affair expected at Ewood
- There have been under 2.5 goals in three of Blackburn's last five home games
- Bristol City have failed to score in three of their last four away matches
- Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals
The Championship action continues to come thick and fast and one of Tuesday's offerings takes place at Ewood Park, where Blackburn host Bristol City.
Given the tight nature of the Championship these two sides are still in the play-off picture, with 11th-place Blackburn two points off the top six while the Robins are a further two points in arrears.
But the pair are in the midst of a sticky patch, with Rovers on a two-game losing streak and City going three matches without success, increasing the need for a much-needed three points for both.
Given the form of the two sides, this could turn out to be a cagey affair in Lancashire that may end up being decided by the odd goal.
Team news
Tyrhys Dolan and Joe Rankin-Costello are both expected to be out for Blackburn until the middle of January and February respectively, while Dominic Hyam, Aynsley Pears, Ryan Hedges and Sam Gallagher are all pencilled for a return later this month.
City are still expected to be without the quartet of Haydon Roberts, Andy King, Nahki Wells and Rob Atkinson, who are pushing for returns towards the end of this month.
Ayman Benarous and Ross McCrorie are both set to be back in early January for the visitors.
The stats
Blackburn are on a two-game losing run after defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds, while Rovers have tasted defeat in three of their last four home matches.
Under 2.5 goals has landed in three of Blackburn's last five games at Ewood Park.
Bristol City have won just one of their last five fixtures and have failed to win any of their last five away assignments, scoring in only two of those games.
The Robins have conceded just 22 league goals, though, to boast the fourth-best defensive record.
Prediction
These two sides are scratching around for form at one of the busiest stages of the season and it would be no surprise if this turns out to be a tight affair.
After conceding seven goals in their last three outings, Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson will want his side to show an improvement at the back and tighten up.
Rovers have a great chance of doing that against a Bristol City side that have one of the worst scoring records in the division and clearly lack a cutting edge in the final third.
The Robins have failed to score in three of their last four away matches and they could only notch one at Huddersfield last time out, a side that are just one place above the relegation zone.
