Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner head the betting for the Wimbledon men's singles and both are on court on Monday for day one at the All England Club.

Alcaraz, who defeated Novak Djokovic in a pulsating final a year ago to claim the grass Grand Slam for the first time, starts his defence against 21-year-old Estonian qualifier Mark Lajal, a match for which he is an understandably short price.

Italy's Sinner, meanwhile, became world no.1 for the first time after his run to the French Open semi-finals, earning top-seed status at Wimbledon, and he begins his campaign against Germany's Yannick Hanfmann in another mismatch.

There is also a big British contingent in action on Monday headlined by Emma Raducanu, who faces a tough first-round tie against Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Bet 1: Juncheng Shang to beat Cristian Garin

Monday's Wimbledon fourfold kicks off with Juncheng Shang, who can claim a victory over former quarter-finalist Cristian Garin.

Shang, 19, lacks experience at the highest level and makes his Wimbledon main-draw debut against Garin but he caught the eye at the Eastbourne International last week, beating Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Emil Ruusuvuori.

Former top-20 player Garin came through qualifying to reach the main draw but his overall form has dipped and he has just a 7-6 record at ATP World Tour level this season.

Monday, 1pm

Bet 2: Gael Monfils to beat Adrian Mannarino

One of the sport's great entertainers is in action on day one as Gael Monfils takes on fellow veteran Adrian Mannarino in an all-French affair in which La Monf is taken to prevail.

Mannarino is ranked slightly higher than his compatriot but he comes into Wimbledon in horrendous form, losing 13 of his 15 matches at all levels.

Monfils doesn't have a great Wimbledon record and he hasn't played the tournament since 2021 - a reflection of his late-career injury struggles - but he won three matches in Mallorca last week before suffering a narrow semi-final loss to eventual champion Alejandro Tabilo.

Monday, 3pm

Bet 3: Eva Lys to beat Clara Burel

France's Clara Burel is ranked more than 80 places above Eva Lys but it could be the German who advances to the second round when they clash on Court 8.

Lys looked strong in qualifying, easing past Raluca Georgiana Serban and Selena Janicijevic as the odds suggested she would, then knocking out 2022 quarter-finalist Amanda Anisimova.

Burel has an ordinary grass record and arrives in south-west London on a run of five straight defeats.

Bet 4: Max Purcell to beat Otto Virtanen

Max Purcell found only Taylor Fritz too strong at Eastbourne, losing out to the American in Saturday's final, and the Aussie should be able to sweep past Otto Virtanen.

Finland's Virtanen did well to come through qualifying but he was the favourite for each of his three matches and he could find life a lot tougher against Purcell, who has been ranked as high as 40th in the world and should be full of confidence after his Devonshire Park run.
