Mbappe, 24, has an uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain and is reportedly trying to force his way out of France, with Los Blancos leading the race for the world-class forward.

But the Reds have apparently thrown their hat into the ring in a shock move which would cost the Merseyside club more than £200million.

Mbappe shot to stardom at Monaco before securing a move to the Ligue 1 champions in 2018 and winning the World Cup with his country the same year.

In 260 appearances for Les Parisiens, the 70-cap international has bagged 212 goals, making him the club's top scorer ahead of Edinson Cavani.

And with just one year left on his deal at the Parc des Princes, PSG may look to offload their most valued player for a massive fee rather than lose him for free next year.

Liverpool could turn to Mbappe as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has just turned 31 and may be entering his final years at the top level.

It will be a tough task for Jurgen Klopp to pry one of Europe's most wanted strikers away from the clutches of Madrid, but the appeal of the Premier League may be something to sway Mbappe's decision.
