Leandro Trossard appears to be waving goodbye to Brighton

Chelsea and Tottenham will battle it out for wantaway Brighton forward Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian’s time on the South Coast appears to have reached an abrupt end after a major fallout with Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi became public knowledge yesterday.

De Zerbi told reporters at his Friday press conference that the 28-year-old left a training session early without permission recently, rendering him unavailable for today’s clash with Liverpool.

That claim prompted a scathing response from Trossard’s agent, Josy Comhair, who appeared to call time on his client’s spell with the club in a bombshell statement.

He accused the Brighton manager of isolating Trossard by making him train alone, as well as suggesting De Zerbi has not spoken to the No11 in nearly a month.

Comhair concluded by demanding that the club "cooperate" with liaising a sale in January — putting both the Blues and Spurs on red alert according to Football London

Chelsea are enduring a torrid campaign under Graham Potter and sit 10th in the Premier League table heading into the weekend and out of both domestic cups.

American owner Todd Boehly is embarking on a winter spending spree as a result and Trossard is a name they have been linked with previously.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has not hidden his desire for new additions to bolster his side’s prospects of a top-four finish this term.

Spurs have struggled badly for consistency recently and adding a player of Trossard's calibre for a cut-price fee is something that will likely appeal to club chiefs.

Trossard joined Brighton in the summer of 2019 and is his side’s top scorer with seven goals in 16 Premier League appearances this term.
