Newcastle have made enquiries about Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer but face competition for his signature.

The uncapped Brazilian defender, 25, has been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Serie A powerhouses AC Milan and Juventus.

Tuttomercato claim Toon have been told Torino want around £20million to sanction a summer move — a price that is unlikely to deter their mega-rich owners.

Eddie Howe signed Dan Burn in January but is keen to add more depth in the middle of his defence with Diego Carlos and Sven Botman also on his radar.

But Bremer, who has played 107 games since joining Torino in 2018, would provide a more reasonably-priced alternative and allow the Magpies to strengthen in other areas without breaking financial fair play rules.

Newcastle are all but assured of retaining their top-flight status and it will be an interesting summer on Tyneside with a squad desperately in need of some work to match expectations since their takeover.

Arsenal are also set for a bumper window with as many as 12 players potentially leaving the Emirates as Mikel Arteta reshapes his squad, according to Football London.

Ben White and Gabriel have formed a solid partnership but the Gunners are in need of depth and it would be tough to persuade Bremer to head further north if they firm up their interest.
