Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have reportedly shown interest in Brighton's World Cup-winning midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

The Seagulls ace, 23, was one of the surprise stars of Argentina's triumph in Qatar, scoring his first international against Poland in the group stage before a classy display in the final when Lionel Scaloni's men beat France on penalties.

Tottenham have previously been linked with Mac Allister due to his impressive Premier League form.

And leaders Arsenal have now joined their North London neighbours in the race for his signature, alongside LaLiga side Atletico, according to Marca.

Mac Allister cost Brighton just £7million in 2019 and signed fresh terms to extend his stay at the Amex until 2025 prior to the World Cup.

That is not expected to deter potential suitors, with Brighton braced for bids for their playmaker next summer.

But Brighton chief executive Paul Barber insists the club have no appetite to sell their first World Cup winner.

Barber said: "Of course, we're very aware that when any of our players, when any of our staff, do well, they're going to attract interest from bigger clubs, wealthier clubs.

"We're very conscious of that. But we want to keep Alexis here as long as we can. He's a very important part of the team and we're looking forward to having him back."
