Brentford have reportedly named their asking price for Ivan Toney ahead of the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old striker is serving an FA ban for breaching betting rules and is not able to play until January 17, when he will have just 18 months remaining on his current deal.

However, the England international is still in high demand and the Evening Standard claim the Bees are willing to sell the centre forward for £80million.

Brentford are hoping to incite a bidding war between Arsenal and Chelsea, who are each looking for a prolific goalscorer to spearhead their ambitions in the second half of the campaign.

Toney cemented his status as an elite-level marksman last term by bagging 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances — a tally bettered by only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

The ex-Newcastle hitman has made it clear he wants to join a bigger club, signing with super-agent Jonathan Barnett in a bid to make the dream come true.

He said in an interview back in August: "Playing for a big club and fighting for trophies, I really want to do that.

"If the chance was to come along, I would be silly not to look more into it. The manager knows that I want to play at the highest level possible.

"The next club I go to if I was to move, it would be the right club. I've liked Arsenal, watching Arsenal, how they play and how passionate the fans are."
