Liverpool have added Marc Guehi to their list of summer transfer targets.

But the Premier League leaders expect to face competition from Manchester United, with proposed new sporting director Dan Ashworth said to have targeted the Crystal Palace defender for Newcastle in the past.

The Telegraph report that whether either club follows up on their interest will depend on how quickly both can make crucial appointments as Liverpool are in need of a sporting director and a replacement for Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea are likely to also target a centre-back and could enter the frame to re-sign the player they sold in 2021.

The Blues are said not to have a straight buy-back agreement but do have the option to match rivals' bids should they want to buy him.

They would also profit from any deal that took Guehi elsewhere.

The report states that the England international is not the only player Palace will be battling to keep hold of in the off-season.

Michael Olise is said to be a target of United and Juventus, while he was also approached by Chelsea in 2023.

Eberechi Eze will also be on the radar of several clubs.
