Manchester United are in pole position to land Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich ahead of Premier League rivals Arsenal.

A report in The Sun says the Dutch defender is unhappy with his game time in Bavaria, placing United on red alert.

Centre-back De Ligt, 24, has started just 11 times in all competitions this season, with Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim the preferred defensive pairing by Thomas Tuchel.

He was an unused substitute as Bayern lost 3-0 in a crucial clash with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday as Eric Dier was selected ahead of him.

Reports of unrest could see the Red Devils reignite their interest with the Old Trafford club long-term admirers of the 43-cap international.

Manager Erik ten Hag managed De Ligt while at Ajax, making him captain and helping him become one of Europe's hottest prospects before his move to Juventus in 2019.

Fellow top-flight side Arsenal are also keeping tabs on his situation, according to FootballTransfers.

But despite internal interest from the Gunners, they have reportedly not initiated any contact about the move and United remain the favourites.

FootballTransfers also say Chelsea are tracking Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez alongside Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies.

Wolves are set to demand £50-60m for Liverpool and Arsenal target Pedro Neto, Football Insider have indicated.
