- Burnley have scored nine goals in their first two league matches
- The Clarets have won both their games by three or more goals
- Recommended bet: Burnley to win

Sunderland and Burnley put their unbeaten records on the line in a standout fixture in Saturday's Championship schedule (15:00 kick-off).

Burnley have started in the best possible way after relegation from the Premier League last season, but the Black Cats are also in confident mood after winning their first two matches without conceding.

Team news

Sunderland will be without winger Jack Clarke, who is set for a move to Ipswich, while Dan Ballard and Jenson Seelt are out due to injuries.

Adil Aouchiche could come in to replace Clarke on the left, while Alan Browne and Ian Poveda are available again and may be among the substitutes.

Burnley will have first-choice goalkeeper James Trafford back after illness. Sander Berge and Anass Zaroury have both left the club and Johann Berg Gudmundsson is a doubt amid transfer speculation.

Jordan Beyer, Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond remain sidelined by injuries but loan signing Bashir Humphreys could make his debut.

The stats

The teams have conceded only one goal between them in their combined four league games.

Burnley won more games on the road (three) than at home (two) in the Premier League last season.

Sunderland have won only one of the teams' last seven meetings.

The Clarets won 4-2 on their last Championship visit to the Stadium of Light in October 2022.

Sunderland lost 11 of their 23 home league games last season.

Captain Josh Brownhill has scored in both of Burnley's first two games.

Prediction

Burnley dominated the Championship the last time they were in the second tier, amassing 101 points and losing only three of their 46 games in the 2022-23 season.

The Clarets look like they have their hearts set on another dominant campaign after opening with a 4-1 win over fellow relegated club Luton and a 5-0 home thrashing of Cardiff.

With no sign of any post-Premier League hangover, Scott Parker has made a fast start since taking over as manager from Vincent Kompany last month and he can make it three Championship wins, even though this is a tricky test.

Sunderland are also in positive mood after winning their first two league games under a new manager. Frenchman Regis Le Bris has overseen a less dramatic success over Cardiff as the Black Cats won 2-0 in Wales despite having only 35.5 per-cent possession before an impressive 4-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.

The home crowd should be fired up after that performance but Sunderland suffered 11 home defeats in the league last season and Burnley have far more high-quality players than the teams they have beaten so far.

It's not likely that the Clarets will keep up their sequence of winning by three or more goals in each game, but they should still be able to get a third victory on the board.
