The annual awards night that brings the British sporting world together in celebration of the year's high acheivers takes place at Media City in Salford on Wednesday.

The shortlist for the 69th BBC Sports Personality of the Year is revealed on Tuesday, but there are no shortage of worthy contenders for the prize.
