- India are unbeaten in 11 T20 internationals
- South Africa are appearing in their first World Cup final
- Recommended bet:
Kuldeep Yadav to be India top wicket taker

It is perhaps fitting that the only two teams to have won all of their games at this year's T20 World Cup will meet in the final of the tournament on Saturday.

But only one of South Africa or India can keep their winning record intact and be crowned champions in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Team news

It is unlikely that either South Africa or India will make any changes to their sides following comprehensive semi-final victories.

South Africa are likely to go for the twin spin threat of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi meaning seamer Ottneil Baartman is again likely to miss out.

India, meanwhile, have named the same side since the start of the Super 8s phase, when Kuldeep Yadav replaced Mohammed Siraj.

South Africa have won all eight of their matches at the T20 World Cup while India are seven from seven after their group game against Canada was abandoned.

The Indians are unbeaten in 11 T20s (won 10 and tied one) since losing to the Proteas in December 2023, one of three defeats to South Africa in the pair's last four meetings.

Only two batsmen at the tournament have scored more runs than India captain Rohit Sharma (248) while Quinton de Kock is top of South Africa's batting charts with 204 runs.

India seamer Arshdeep Singh has taken 15 wickets at the tournament — two shy of the leading wicket-taker, Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Prediction

Semi-finals are not supposed to be cakewalks but that is what both of the last-four showdowns at the T20 World Cup turned into.

South Africa's bowlers blew Afghanistan away while India were imperious as they ended England's reign as 20-over world champions on Thursday.

Things should be much closer in the final but India are justifiably favourites to claim a first T20 crown since the inaugural tournament in 2007.

Since losing to South Africa in mid-December Rohit Sharma's men have won 10 and tied one of 11 completed T20s and invariably they have triumphed with a degree of comfort on each occasion.

India responded to their five-wicket loss to the Proteas with a thumping 106-run success two days later and there appears to be an air of ruthlessness about the way they are going about their cricket at present.

The decision to drop Mohammed Siraj for leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav at the start of the Super 8s phase has been fully vindicated and Kuldeep could have a huge role to play in Saturday's showpiece.

He has taken 10 wickets in four matches since coming into the side, including two against Afghanistan at the Kensington Oval.

Kuldeep has taken 15 wickets in seven T20s in the West Indies — he has only claimed more in his homeland — and he has taken six wickets in just two 20-over clashes against South Africa.

On what promises to be a spin-friendly wicket, Kuldeep could turn India to global glory.
