Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl will be looking to add to Leeds' woes

- Leeds have won just two of their last eight meetings with Sheffield Wednesday
- The Owls have lost only two of their last 14 home matches, winning seven times

Sheffield Wednesday draw no bet

Defeated play-off finalists Leeds' miserable start to the season continued at The Hawthorns last weekend as they were held to a 0-0 draw by West Brom and a trip to Sheffield Wednesday is not guaranteed to see them discover some form.

The Owls' players will have received a berating from Danny Rohl following their 4-0 defeat at Sunderland, but that should give them added motivation ahead of this clash with their Yorkshire rivals and they could make an immediate return to winning ways back at Hillsborough.

Team news

Wednesday are still without Ben Hamer, Akin Famewo and Nathaniel Chalobah – the latter two are nearing a return – but there are no fresh injury concerns so any changes Rohl makes will be tactical.

Ike Ugbo has featured from the bench in the Owls' last two matches and will be pushing for a start, while Pol Valentin may come in for Yan Valery following the Tunisian's disastrous performance against the Black Cats.

Leeds have no injury concerns but Georginio Rutter's exit leaves a big hole to fill. Samuel Illing-Junior, Jonathan Rowe and Calvin Stengs have been linked with a move to Elland Road this week and Daniel Farke will be keen to get one of those through the door and into the squad for the trip to Hillsborough.

The stats

Leeds have won just two of their last eight meetings with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have lost only two of their last 14 home matches, winning seven times in that run.

The Whites are winless in three away games, failing to score in each of those matches.

Josh Windass has scored in four of Sheffield Wednesday's last five Championship games.

One or both teams have failed to score in the last five meetings between these sides.

Leeds have won only two of their last 11 Championship matches.

Prediction

Last season ended in disaster for Leeds as they won just two of their final eight games to fall out of the automatic promotion spots before losing to Southampton in the play-off final and their woes have continued into the new campaign.

An opening 3-3 draw with newly promoted Portsmouth was followed by a 3-0 thrashing by Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup and a flat performance in a 0-0 draw at West Brom.

The Whites have now failed to score in three consecutive away matches following their blank at The Hawthorns, making this week's departure of key attacker Rutter an untimely one.

With Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray also having departed, Leeds look much weaker than last term and a trip to Hillsborough to face a side they have beaten just twice in the last eight meetings is unlikely to see them get back on track.

Wednesday suffered a heavy 4-0 loss at Sunderland last week but they tend to fare better at home, where they have lost just two of their last 14 matches and could add to Leeds' misery on Friday.

The Owls earned a point at Elland Road last term and were not disgraced in a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture. With Leeds weaker than last season and in woeful form, Wednesday could exact their revenge at Hillsborough.
