Rasmus Hojlund insists he does not want to be compared to Erling Haaland as the duo prepare to face off in Sunday's Manchester derby.

Hojlund has made an encouraging start since his £64million move to Manchester United, with three goals in three Champions League outings.

The Denmark international's Scandinavian roots and physical playing style have led to comparisons with Manchester City's Norwegian scoring sensation Haaland.

But Hojlund, 20, is focused on building a reputation of his own as he bids to find his feet in the Premier League.

In the aftermath of United's 1-0 win over Hojlund's former club FC Copenhagen last night, he remarked: "Like I've said many, many times. I don't want to be compared to him.

"He's incredible and he's probably the best striker in the world. I hope can improve and then we'll see what [happens]."

Hojlund will hope to net his first league goal when City head to Old Trafford — and the striker cannot wait to be a part of the fiercely contested derby.

He added: "It will be a big, a big experience. I'm looking forward to it.

"It's always special to play a rival. If we win the game, we can get closer to the top."

Despite failing to score in domestic competition since joining United, Hojlund is confident there is plenty more to come.

Reflecting on his start with Erik ten Hag's side, he said: "[It's been] alright.

"I've trying to do my best every time I play but I'm still finding the rhythm.

"We've been struggling a little bit but we're getting there now. We have three wins in a row.

"[Each] Premier League game, you get more used to the league, the physicality of it.

"I'm improving every day and my team-mates are starting to see my patterns in the game as well, so it's getting better.

"I know I have to perform every day. But at the end of the day, I'm only 20.

"I still have a lot to improve but we're just going to keep going."
