Eddie Howe will be confident following Newcastle's 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea

- PSG have kept only two clean sheets in their last 13 Champions League fixtures
- Newcastle have conceded at least twice in four of their last five away matches
- Recommended bet: PSG Win and Both Teams to Score

Newcastle enjoyed a memorable Champions League night against star-studded PSG on matchday two, thrashing the French champions 4-1, but they are under pressure going into Tuesday's return fixture.

Eddie Howe's men failed to score in their other three Group F games, a 0-0 draw with AC Milan and home and away defeats to Borussia Dortmund, so a bold approach is required in Paris.

PSG have beaten Dortmund and Milan in their first two home games but defeats at St James' Park and San Siro mean they are far from guaranteed a place in the last 16 and another engrossing contest is expected in this high-class group.

Team news

PSG centre-back Presnel Kimpembe is back in training but may not be risked on Tuesday. The hosts are also likely to be missing Warren Zaire-Emery, Marquinhos, Keylor Navas, Nuno Mendes and Sergio Rico.

Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock joins a long list of injury absentees including Harvey Barnes, Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Matt Targett and Elliot Anderson.

Sandro Tonali is suspended and Sean Longstaff is a doubt. Lewis Hall should start at left-back.

The stats

PSG have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions and the French champions have scored 20 goals in their last six home matches.

PSG have kept only two clean sheets in their last 13 Champions League fixtures.

Newcastle have conceded at least twice in four of their last five away matches.

Alexander Isak has scored 17 goals in just 31 Premier League appearances for Newcastle.

All four of the Magpies' Champions League goals this season came in the home win over PSG.

Prediction

Injury-hit Newcastle warmed up for their trip to Paris with an impressive 4-1 Premier League win over Chelsea on Saturday but they face a daunting assignment against PSG.

The Ligue 1 powerhouses beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 and AC Milan 3-0 in their first two Champions League home games this season and the last four domestic visitors to Parc des Princes have been thumped 5-2, 3-0, 3-0 and 4-0.

However, Newcastle's 4-1 win over PSG on matchday two, capped by a long-range stunner from defender Fabian Schar, should dispel any sense of inferiority.

The Magpies are worth backing to get on the scoresheet in the French capital, with Anthony Gordon in fine form and striker Alexander Isak returning to action after injury.

Their depleted midfield and defence may struggle to subdue their Kylian Mbappe-inspired hosts, who beat Monaco 5-2 at the weekend with five different goalscorers, and PSG look a tempting bet to win with both teams scoring.
