- Manchester City start title defence at Chelsea
- Arsenal host Wolves
- Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton all back in top flight

The Premier League is back and there are some big clashes over the course of the opening weekend, including Manchester United versus Fulham on Friday night kicking things off and champions Manchester City travelling to Chelsea on Sunday.

We run down all 10 games and have a score prediction for each.

Manchester United vs Fulham (Friday, 8pm)

United should start with a comfortable win over a Fulham side that could struggle this season.

After agreeing a new deal over the summer, Erik ten Hag will be keen to improve on last term at Old Trafford and his side should secure three points on Friday.

Score prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Fulham.

Ipswich vs Liverpool (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Liverpool’s new era under Arne Slot starts at newly-promoted Ipswich and the Reds should edge to a narrow victory at Portman Road.

The Tractor Boys will make it tough for the visitors but they are likely to start their new life in the top flight with a defeat.

Score prediction: Ipswich 0-1 Liverpool.

Arsenal vs Wolves (Saturday, 3pm)

Arsenal will be keen to get off to a flying start at home to Wolves as they look to challenge for the title again.

The Gunners impressed in recent friendly wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon and they should have too much for a Wolves side that finished down in 14th last season.

Score predictions: Arsenal 3-0 Wolves.

Everton vs Brighton (Saturday, 3pm)

Everton will be hoping for a better season under Sean Dyche after finishing 15th last term but Brighton, who came 11th in 2023-24, represent tough opening opponents.

The Toffees will bid farewell to Goodison Park this season but the home faithful may have to settle for a point against the Seagulls, who start the campaign with a new manager in charge after Fabian Hurzeler was brought in from German side St Pauli to replace Roberto De Zerbi.

Score prediction: Everton 1-1 Brighton.

Newcastle vs Southampton (Saturday, 3pm)

Newcastle will be looking to improve on last season's seventh-place finish and they should start with a home victory over newly-promoted Southampton.

Saints are expected to struggle back up in the top flight after earning promotion via the play-offs and this is a very difficult first assignment at St James' Park.

Score prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Southampton.

Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth (Saturday, 3pm)

Forest survived last season, eventually finishing six points above the bottom three, but another relegation scrap could well be on the cards.

Bournemouth have lost key striker Dominic Solanke to Tottenham to dent their hopes of a top-half finish and they, too, could be in for a difficult campaign.

Score prediction: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Bournemouth.

West Ham vs Aston Villa (Saturday, 5.30pm)

West Ham are another Premier League club who start the season with a new man in charge as Julen Lopetegui has replaced David Moyes at the London Stadium.

Unai Emery led Villa into the top four last season

Niclas Fullkrug, Crysencio Summerville and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are among their eye-catching summer signings and even though the Hammers look set to improve on last season's ninth-place finish, Aston Villa are difficult opening-day opponents after Unai Emery impressively guided them up to fourth last term.

Score prediction: West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa.

Brentford vs Crystal Palace (Sunday, 2pm)

Crystal Palace finished last season superbly, winning six of their last seven league games to end up in 10th place.

Oliver Glasner had a big impact in the second half of the season after he took over from Roy Hodgson and the Eagles will be looking to pick up where they left off when they go to Brentford, who were 16th last term, on Sunday.

Score prediction: Brentford 0-2 Crystal Palace.

Chelsea vs Manchester City (Sunday, 4.30pm)

Chelsea changed managers at the end of the season, with Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino despite the Blues' strong finish when they managed to seal sixth place after a poor start.

The Blues' pre-season results have been worrying and taking on the champions on the opening weekend is as difficult as it gets so this is likely to end in a comfortable away win.

Score prediction: Chelsea 1-3 Manchester City.

Leicester vs Tottenham (Monday, 8pm)

After winning the Championship, Leicester face a tough first examination back in the Premier League when they host Tottenham, who will be hoping to finish in the top four this season.

Ange Postecoglou's team started last season very well and they can pick up three points on Monday night to kick off the new campaign in style too.

Score prediction: Leicester 0-3 Tottenham.
