The second Saturday of the new Premier League season sees seven matches taking place, with the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City all in action.

Here are our expert writers’ top selections from each of the day's top-flight games.

Brighton vs Manchester United (12.30pm)

Both Brighton and Manchester United recorded opening-weekend victories last time out.

The Seagulls got off to a dream start against Everton as they won 3-0, but United are a much better team than the Toffees, and they can pick up another win on the south coast, having beaten Brighton away from home in May.

Crystal Palace vs West Ham (3pm)

Crystal Palace and West Ham suffered 2-1 defeats on the opening weekend of the season as they fell short against Brentford and Aston Villa.

The two teams have both scored in the last 14 Premier League meetings between the pair, and another exciting game is on the cards.

Fulham vs Leicester City (3pm)

Fulham put up a good fight during their recent 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, while Leicester rallied to earn a point against Tottenham.

The Cottagers averaged 1.63 goals per game last season, and midfielder Emile Smith Rowe should grow in confidence after his first appearance for the club.

He scored 10 league goals in 21 starts and 12 substitute appearances for Arsenal in 2021-22, and he could have his say this weekend.

Manchester City vs Ipswich (3pm)

Manchester City were unbeaten at home in their 19 league games at the Etihad Stadium last season, but Ipswich managed to frustrate Liverpool for large parts of their opening fixture last week.

Southampton vs Nottingham Forest (3pm)

Southampton gave Newcastle a tough day at the office last week, but they conceded 63 times in 46 Championship last season.

Midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi scored eight league goals in 20 starts last term, and he has what it takes to get himself on the scoresheet.

Tottenham vs Everton (3pm)

Tottenham should learn plenty from their draw against Leicester and put that to good use when they welcome Everton to the capital.

Spurs led at half-time in both meetings with Everton last season, while the Toffees have failed to win any of their previous 11 away games in the Premier League.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal (5.30pm)

Two teams expected to challenge for top-four honours meet at Villa Park as Aston Villa host Arsenal.

The Villans have won 19 of their previous 26 games at home, while the Gunners have kept seven clean sheets in their last eight away matches, and a close game is expected on Saturday evening.
