Oscar Bobb says Pep Guardiola's demanding coaching style is what motivates Manchester City to continue pushing for silverware.

The 20-year-old is enjoying his maiden campaign in the first-team mix at the Etihad Stadium and started Wednesday's 3-1 victory over FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

But he admits it is Guardiola and the senior pros who are underpinning the club's efforts to defend last season's historic Treble.

Bobb said: "The manager rewards good work in training.

"There's a real understanding within the group that if you do well you'll get your chance and hard work pays off.

"I think everyone gets that but the senior pros are the benchmark. They're always on it so they always play."

The Norwegian starlet also revealed the one player he most takes inspiration from on the training ground.

He added: "Bernardo [Silva]. I want to play like him.

"His quality is crazy and I just want to learn from him.

"And Phil [Foden], of course. I love Phil."

Full-back Rico Lewis has made even more of an impression on City's first team this season and made his England senior debut in November.

While he accepts it is easier for him to be hungry for silverware as a young player, he believes pride motivates the club's biggest stars.

Lewis said: "I've not won as much as other players in there.

"For them I think it's a pride thing. You don't want anyone to take your crown. That drives how you play in every training session.

"We have to show how good we are, whoever we draw in the next round of the Champions League. We've done it before and we have to do it again."

Lewis is also pleased to be the latest example of the pathway that has been created between the club's academy and the first team.

He added: "A few years ago people might have said there's no opportunity.

"But now you see it with Phil coming through, Cole [Palmer] while he was here and now me.

"You see this season with Oscar and there are even more to come."
