Newcastle have added to their attacking options by signing Harvey Barnes from relegated Leicester on a five-year deal.

Barnes, 25, heads to Tyneside to replace Allan Saint-Maximin, who is set for a move to the Saudi Pro League.

On his switch to Eddie Howe's side, the Burnley-born winger told Newcastle's website: "I'm delighted.

"It's an amazing club and for me it's a massive opportunity to come and be involved in a successful team that's doing exciting things, so I'm absolutely buzzing to be here.

"I think it's an attacker's dream to come into a team like this. It's high paced, it's physically demanding but you can see the rewards of that with the chances and the goals scored, so I think I'll certainly suit the style."

Magpies boss Howe added: "Harvey is an exciting talent who I have admired for a long time so I'm delighted to welcome him to Newcastle.

"He is strong, quick and very good technically and he showed last season in particular that he has an eye for goal from wide positions.

"He will add a different element to our play and we look forward to working with him as we prepare for the season ahead."

Leicester academy graduate Barnes departs the club after their relegation from the Premier League last season, swapping the Championship for Champions League football.

Capped once by England, he was the East Midlands outfit's top scorer last term with 13 goals.

He also helped the Foxes win both the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2021 under Brendan Rodgers' management.

Barnes will now compete with Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon for a place on the left of Newcastle's frontline.

He has scored 35 Premier League goals and registered 25 assists in total and will play in Europe's elite club competition for the first time next season.
