Galton: Disappointment at Gunners draw shows how far United have come
Leah Galton says Manchester United's disappointment at slipping to a late 2-2 draw against Arsenal shows how far the Women's Super League club have come.
Cloe Lacasse's 93rd-minute stunner rescued a point for the Gunners after Galton and Melvine Malard netted for United to overturn Stina Blackstenius' early opener.
Speaking to the club's official site, the goalscorer said: "It felt like a good game to be involved in so I'm guessing it was a good game to watch.
"But it's good to be coming away disappointed with a draw — five years ago we would have been extremely happy with a draw against Arsenal.
"So I think you've got to take the positives from it, there were plenty of them. We just need to tighten up in a few areas.
"It was a good game. She [Lacasse] has hit an absolute corker at the end of the game and there's not a lot you can do about that. It was a great finish.
"But we need to just keep moving forward."
Galton, 29, equalised for the Red Devils in the 27th minute having capitalised on goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo's mistake to stroke home into an empty net.
On the finish, the United forward added: "It wasn't [as easy as it looks] and I was terrified that I was going to miss the open net!
"But I just had to keep a cool head and slot it in. It was so nice to score in front of all the fans.
"I'll take it and I'll move on to the next game."
Reflecting on the game overall, Galton added: "The first half I think we were on top.
"We had a lot of control over the game and I think that's why it was a bit frustrating when in the second half they controlled the game.
"In the last 15 minutes they are pushing for a goal, they are pinning us back and we were all tired.
"So it's even isn't it. A draw was a fair result in the end and we just need to take the positives because there were a lot."
