Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag blamed poor finishing for a disappointing defeat to Crystal Palace.

Joachim Andersen's phenomenal first-half strike saw the Eagles soar to victory at Old Trafford and condemn the hosts to their fourth loss of the Premier League campaign after just seven matches.

Following the defeat, Ten Hag highlighted the poor decision making of his players in the final third.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "It's quite simple. We conceded only three chances over the whole game — all three from set-plays.

"Then I think we got in good positions and then made poor decisions.

"We got into good positions and we had free players. We didn't have an impact.

"The quality was just not good enough in that part of the game. The final part of the game we didn't play our best game.

"Of course it is frustrating. We were also many times close. You have to be sharp and clinical.

"It's about decision making. We can't change this result anymore. You always learn from the game and learn to do better from the final part of the game."

The result means United now have more defeats than wins in the top flight this term, making it their worst start to a Premier League season after seven games.

Ten Hag went on to speak about the disappointment with the poor start.

He said: "It's a bad start. We have to catch up and do better. This is not good enough.

"Of course, it's frustrating for everyone, especially the fans. It's frustrating but for us, as well, the players and for me. We have to stay together, fight together and get better and make sure we get improvement."

United welcome Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday and will aim to return to winning ways after an opening loss to Bayern Munich.
