Up-and-coming musician Alex Spencer is still on a high from his beloved Manchester City's Treble-winning campaign. Having played a gig for Pep Guardiola's squad last year, the 16-year-old lyricist is confident his team will hit the right notes again in 2023-24.

City born and bred

My dad has been a City fan for decades. He took me to my first game when I was about four.

We played Wolves and I think we won 3-1 — and I've never looked back since then really. Not that I had much choice!

Dad is always keen to remind me that things haven't always been this good for us though and that I don't know how lucky I am.

It's crazy to think how far the club has come since those Maine Road days, down in the lower divisions. It's hard for me to even picture it.

Meeting my heroes

After we won the Premier League in 2021-22, I was invited play a few songs for the City squad as part of the open-top bus celebration day in Manchester.

Honestly, it was one of the best days of my life. I had to keep pinching myself because it didn't feel real!

What was even better, they all genuinely seemed to enjoy the songs. Pep Guardiola loved it and Jack Grealish has been really supportive of my career so far.

He followed me on Instagram afterwards and said that when he's out with his mates one time, he's going to hire me to do a private gig for them!

I sent my new single across to him on social media and he said it was great and encouraged me to keep going.

He's just a really sound bloke.

Haal of a signing

Erling Haaland was ridiculous last season — but I genuinely think he could be even better this time around.

Look at Jack's first season for us. He wasn't playing anywhere near what he can but once he got used to the team and the tactics, he was one of our best players.

Haaland is still young and he's just going to keep getting better and better, which is a pretty scary thought.

If he doesn't get injured he'll win another Golden Boot no problem. I can't see anyone else getting near him.

To be honest, he should probably win the Ballon d'Or but I don't think anyone's beating Lionel Messi to that after he won the World Cup.

Perfect Pep

The last seven years under Pep have been absolutely amazing and he seems to be loving it as much as he ever has.

I do think he'll have a rest from management at some point soon though. He's talked about it before and I think he means it.

But he's signed up for another two seasons currently. Hopefully he decides to have one more and make it a ten-year reign,

You just know he's going to have the players fired up for the season and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we go close to the Treble again.

Hopefully it's a big year ahead for me and for City!

Alex Spencer's new single 'One Way Ticket' is available to stream now. Check him out on Instagram and Twitter.
