Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are looking for a 10th straight win over Newcastle

- City have not lost an FA Cup tie at the Etihad since January 2015
- Newcastle are set to be without eight first-team players
- Recommended bet:
City to win to zero

Manchester City will be confident of booking their place in the FA Cup semi-finals when they host a Newcastle side who continue to be decimated by injuries.

The Citizens are right in the mix for back-to-back trebles this season and they can ensure their FA Cup progress at home to the Magpies, whose squad is down to the bare bones again.

Eddie Howe is set to be without a number of first-team players and his side may struggle to stop City, who have not lost at home since a 2-1 defeat to Brentford in November 2022.

Team news

City are without first-choice goalkeeper Ederson, who picked up a thigh injury in the draw against Liverpool last time out and his place will be taken by Stefan Ortega.

Jack Grealish continues to work his way back to full fitness, while Kevin De Bruyne is set to miss out due to a groin injury.

Newcastle's injury problems show no signs of letting up, with Anthony Gordon and Dan Burn both coming off in the defeat at Chelsea and the pair are expected to miss this contest.

Harvey Barnes missed that loss with a minor hamstring issue which will likely keep him out of this trip to the Etihad, while Callum Wilson's continued absence further limits Eddie Howe's attacking options.

Kieran Trippier also remains on the sidelines, along with Nick Pope, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali.

The stats

City are on a 21-game unbeaten streak in all competitions heading into this contest, last tasting defeat when losing 1-0 at Aston Villa on December 6.

The Citizens have not lost an FA Cup tie at home since January 2015, when goals from Patrick Bamford and Kike Garcia handed Middlesbrough a shock 2-0 victory.

Pep Guardiola's side have recorded wins to nil in their last four FA Cup matches at the Etihad Stadium.

Newcastle have lost two of their last three away games in all competitions, going down 4-1 at Arsenal and most recently losing 3-2 against Chelsea at Stamford.

The Magpies have lost their last nine trips to the Etihad, failing to score in six of those.

Prediction

City are in fantastic form heading into this encounter and they should have no problems dispatching Newcastle, who are struggling with injuries and look ready for this season to end.

Guardiola's troops have been sensational at the Etihad, where they have not lost since 2022, while this stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for the Magpies.

Howe's side have failed to score on their last five trips to City, losing all of those fixtures and the absences of both Gordon and Wilson makes it harder for them to find the back of the net.
