Riyad Mahrez is "hungry to achieve more" with Manchester City after signing a new contract with the Premier League champions.

The Algeria international has spent the past four seasons with City, having joined from Leicester City in a £60million transfer, and his new deal will run through until June 2025.

Mahrez has scored 63 goals and assisted a further 43 across 189 appearances for City, winning seven major trophies across that successful period.

He also famously won the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016, but the 31-year-old is eager to add more trophies to his collection with Pep Guardiola's side.

"I'm very happy to sign the new deal," said Mahrez, who previously had just one season left to run on his contract.

"I have enjoyed every single minute of my time here. It's a pleasure to be part of such an incredible club.

"To have helped us achieve the success we have enjoyed in the past four seasons has been unforgettable and made us all hungry to achieve even more.

"I would also like to thank Pep, Txiki [Begiristain] and the coaching staff, both for the way they have helped me to develop as a player and for pushing me to continue to improve.

"Now I just want to try and play my part in helping us be successful next season and beyond."

The 106 goals Mahrez has directly contributed to since his debut in August 2018 has been bettered by only Kevin De Bruyne (115) and Raheem Sterling (125) among City players.

Mahrez impressed once again last season as City retained their Premier League title, with his tally of 24 goals across all competitions being at least five more than any of his team-mates.

He follows Rodri in signing a new deal with City in a busy transfer window that has also seen the arrivals of Erling Haaland, Stefan Ortega and Kalvin Phillips, while Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus and Sterling have departed.

City's director of football Begiristain said: "Riyad has played a major part in our success in the four years since he joined us, and we are all delighted he has agreed this new deal.

"He has brought so much to the club with his skill, talent, commitment, and desire to win evident from the moment he first arrived. I also know that Pep and the coaching staff relish working with Riyad.

"He is one of the most exciting wingers operating in the game and we are all very excited to know he will be part of our ongoing drive to try and achieve more success."
