LiveScore Racing Preview: Wincanton, December 2, 2021
There is a seven-race card from Wincanton on Thursday — the first of three meetings from the Somerset venue in December.
The official going is described as 'Good', 'Good to Firm' in places on the Chase course.
And we have selected five horses for you to follow.
1.15pm - Brickyard Farm Cheese Ltd 20 Years Anniversary Mares' Novices' Hurdle (2m5½f)
Two-time bumper winner RAINYDAY WOMAN made a decent start to her hurdles career when she finished second of six runners at Ludlow (2m) last month.
Although she made a couple of mistakes in that race, which may have cost her first place, Paul Nicholls' runner should come on from that opening outing over obstacles.
The six-year-old is stepping up in trip here and the slower pace of the race will put less emphasis on her jumping.
LiveScore selection: Rainyday Woman
1.45pm - Wessex Internet Full Fibre 'National Hunt' Novices' Handicap Hurdle (3m½f)
A switch to Jane Williams' yard earlier this year looks to have really helped IN REM.
Since then he is unbeaten on the track, with two victories from his two outings this season.
On his latest start at Exeter (2m5½f), he prevailed by eight lengths in a large field.
Rider Christian Williams was able to ease his horse up approaching the finishing line otherwise the margin of victory would have been larger.
He will need to carry a 7lb penalty here but that is unlikely to be enough to prevent him from completing his hat-trick.
LiveScore selection: In Rem
2.15pm - All Sport Insurance For Sports Professionals Silver Buck Handicap Chase (3m1f)
BUTTERWICK BROOK is still looking for his first win over fences after eight attempts but has been runner-up twice, including on his latest effort at this course over the shorter trip of 2n4f.
Colin Tizzard's gelding should not have to wait too long for his maiden chase victory. He has run well over 3m before, so he ought to appreciate this stamina test.
LiveScore Selection: Butterwick Brook
2.45pm - Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese Handicap Hurdle (1m7f)
Alan King's gelding ON TO VICTORY was useful on the Flat and won the November Handicap at Doncaster (1m4f), one of four similar successes.
The seven-year-old made a return to hurdles at Sandown (2m) last month but he was below his best.
The Rock Of Gibraltar runner probably needed that outing over hurdles to sharpen up his jumping.
He is down 2lb in the ratings to a mark, which is 1lb lower than his last hurdles victory. Expect to see him bounce back to his best.
LiveScore selection: On To Victory
3.15pm - Thorners Handicap Chase (3m2½f)
Since having wind surgery earlier this summer, JONY MAX has come close to success on both of his two outings.
He was second of 11 at this course over 3m1f on his last racecourse appearance and this longer distance seems to be the direction he will be heading now.
Christian Williams' runner should produce another big run from just a 3lb higher mark and, with a bit of luck going his way, can record his first win over fences.
LiveScore selection: Jony Max.
