There are eight races at Nottingham on Wednesday

The season at Nottingham has just over a month left to run and they meet on Wednesday afternoon for an eight-race offering at the Colwick Park circuit including the final races in the Jockey Club Grassroots Series over a variety of trips.

Conditions are set to be 'Good to firm' for Wednesday's card which runs from 1.00pm to 4.30pm.

LiveScore Five to Follow at Nottingham on Wednesday.

1.00pm - SME Graduate Employment www.sme-graduates.co.uk EBF Slip Anchor Maiden Stakes (5f)

The Nottingham card begins with a trio of maidens and this opener is over the flying five furlongs.

True Icon went off favourite on this month's York debut over slightly further but failed to rise a challenge. The Churchill filly should soon be doing better.

Preference here is for GABRIELLA'S SPIRIT, representing trainer Eric Alston. She was placed in a Haydock novice over 6f at the beginning of the month on her second start and a return from a break and she's got enough speed in her pedigree to suggest this drop in trip will aid her now.

LiveScore Selection: Gabriella's Spirit

2.30pm - Jockey Club Grassroots Series Final Nursery (6f)

A maiden winner at Brighton (6f, good to firm) in June, MAGIC WARRIOR made an excellent fist of things at Haydock (6f, soft) in early July when runner up on his first attempt in a nursery.

He had a couple of months off afterwards and was well held at Doncaster (1m, good to soft) attempting a mile for the first time. He didn't appear to relish the new trip and was allowed come home in his own time that afternoon.

Back down to 6f, he may well bounce back now.

LiveScore Selection: Magic Warrior

3.00pm - Jockey Club Grassroots Series Final Sprint Handicap (6f)

Hat-trick seekers Wade's Magic and Lezardrieux are clearly in thriving form and must be on any shortlist for this competitive sprint, but WORLD OF WINDHOVER might be worth chancing instead.

He is still lightly-raced and gained his first success on turf at Yarmouth in August over this trip under today's claiming rider.

The undulations of Newmarket probably didn't bring out the best in him since and the 4YO could still have more to offer from his current mark.

LiveScore Selection: World Of Winchester

3.30pm - Jockey Club Grassroots Series Middle Distance Final Handicap (1m2f)

William Haggas' Wink Of An Eye is in action at Nottingham at 3:30pm.
William Haggas' Wink Of An Eye is in action at Nottingham at 3:30pm.

His winning sequence was halted last month at York (1m4f, good to firm) but WINK OF AN EYE had tallied four on the spin previous to that at 1m2f/1m3f and things didn't pan out ideally for him on the Knavesmire.

William Haggas' Royal runner is essentially taking on a lesser contest here and it's quite possible he will have more to give back down in trip too. He's a key player.

LiveScore Selection: Wink Of An Eye

4.00pm - Jockey Club Grassroots Series Stayers' Final Handicap (1m6f)

The filly Haizoom is a possible player, while Eclipse De Lunar is another for the shortlist but MAGNA MORALIA looks the one to side with going back up in trip for trainer John Quinn and Jason Hart in this Stayers' event.

He's a dual winner on the Flat and was second at Carlisle over this trip in May. As a 2m hurdles scorer, his stamina is not in question and his most recent outing at Epsom in late July saw him finishing a neck second over 1m4f.

With first-time blinkers added back up in trip, he should thrive here.

LiveScore Selection: Magna Moralia.
