Lingfield is the scene for Thursday's racing focus

There's some quality action on the Polytrack at Lingfield Park on Thursday afternoon, where they stage the River Eden Fillies' Stakes and Fleur De Lys Fillies' Stakes as part of their seven-race afternoon offering.

Racing at Lingfield is from 1.03pm-4.33pm and we've picked out five to follow on what promises to be a good afternoon of all-weather fare.

1.03pm - Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap (1m2f)

Fascinating Lips could be the latest success for Gary Moore
Fascinating Lips could be the latest success for Gary Moore

Rogue Power was much-improved when second on handicap bow at Yarmouth over this trip nine days ago, finishing second.

A replication of that makes him a major player, with his mark due to go up 5lb after this, but he does have to prove effectiveness on this surface.

FASCINATING LIPS was a C&D winner on his second start in April and his subsequent 1m4f run at Brighton in May is easy to forgive.

He returns now with the Gary Moore team in scintillating form and this mark is within his reach.

LiveScore Selection: Fascinating Lips

2.13pm - Coral EBF River Eden Fillies' Stakes (Fillies' And Mares' Listed, 1m5f)

Having shown an affinity for the all-weather in three runs last year, despite failing to win, SEA LA ROSA has won 3-5 starts on turf since returning to commence her 3YO season in June.

The most recent of those was a Doncaster handicap last month at the St Leger Festival over 1m4f off 87, while she's also finished third in a Newmarket Group 3 over that same trip since.

She made good late ground behind smart rivals there and, with a repeat, the Sea The Stars filly could do very well upped in trip.

LiveScore Selection: Sea La Rosa

2.48pm - MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap (7f)

Charlie Appleby's recent winner Modern News could provide more joy at Newbury
Charlie Appleby's recent winner Modern News could provide more joy at Newbury

The Charlie Appleby-trained MODERN NEWS is 2-2 this year, winning a Class 2 at Doncaster last month to add to his Newmarket victory in late July.

He's gone up another 3lb here but this promising 3YO son of Shamardal has surely not yet reached a ceiling and he may well be too strong for this trio of opponents in the hands of William Buick.

LiveScore Selection: Modern News

3.23pm - Coral EBF Fleur De Lys Fillies' Stakes (Fillies' And Mares' Listed, 1m)

Maamora has twice finished second in Listed company on turf lately and the Simon & Ed Crisford inmate isn't overlooked hastily but she, like Don't Tell Claire for the Kubler team, has got a wide draw to contend with.

Just inside them will be MRS FITZHERBERT for Hughie Morrison.

The Kingman filly finds her star on the rise having won over C&D in August and backed that up stylishly at Wolverhampton last month. Rossa Ryan takes over here and she is worthy of a shot in this grade.

LiveScore Selection: Mrs Fitzherbert

4.33pm - MansionBet Proud Partners of The AWC Apprentice Handicap (7f)

Rhys Clutterbuck is a good ally in this sphere and he knows Lingfield better than most.

AMATHUS won at Salisbury back in the spring over 6f and has been threatening another score on turf in recent starts over 5½f/6f.

He is worth another go at this increased trip and while his jockey cannot claim in this race, the 4YO can avail of a 3lb lower mark compared to that from which he's been threatening on turf. He has a solid enough shout.

LiveScore Selection: Amathus
