Joan Of Arc is targeting Goodwood glory
Joan Of Arc is targeting Goodwood glory

Day three of five is under starter's orders at Glorious Goodwood — and we have picked five horses for you to follow.

The Qatar Nassau Stakes is the Group 1 feature contest at 3.35pm, while there are strong supporting races courtesy of the Richmond Stakes and the Gordon Stakes.

With the action beginning at 1.50pm and running through until the 5.20pm, check out the runners and runners to keep an eye on.

2.25pm - Unibet Richmond Stakes (Group 2, 6f)

Perfect Power won the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and carries a 3lb penalty.

Richard Fahey's charge is respected but ASYMMETRIC did all bar win the July Stakes at Newmarket this month when beaten by Lusail on the nod.

The Showcasing colt had won his first two prior to that — including over C&D — and this 150,000 gns purchase has more to come for Martin Harley and Alan King.

LiveScore Selection: Asymmetric

3pm - John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3, 1m4f)

Aidan O'Brien's Wordsworth is worth taking on here.

He might not have the required gear-change to prevail over this trip on this track and drops in class but THIRD REALM could be the one for Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni.

The Sea The Stars colt defeated no less than Adayar at Lingfield in May on soft ground.

He was behind in fifth as that rival won the Derby at Epsom next time and the Godolphin horse has added the King George since.

Third Realm is very low-miles and appeals as having more to give, while he is sure to be just fine back operating on slower ground.

LiveScore Selection: Third Realm

3.35pm - Qatar Nassau Stakes (Fillies' Group 1, 1m2f)

JOAN OF ARC can make the most of the weight she gets from smart older performers Audarya and Lady Bowthorpe to win this for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.

She will be the sixth three-year-old in seven years to prevail if so.

She handles soft ground from her Irish 1000 Guineas second to stablemate Empress Josephine and has demonstrated a liking for this distance since in winning the Prix de Diane at Chantilly.

Fancy Blue won that French Group 1 last summer before bagging the Nassau and Joan Of Arc can emulate her now.

LiveScore Selection: Joan Of Arc

4.10pm - Goodwood Racecourse Patrons Nursery (7f)

This is as competitive a nursery as we will see run and the likes of Adjuvant, Highland Premiere, Ardbraccan and Mayfair Stroll are all notables.

But ROBASTA might be the one to foil them all for Andrew Balding and champion jockey Oisin Murphy.

The Mehmas colt made a winning start in handicaps at Ascot (6f, good to soft) earlier in the month having shown plenty of promise previously.

A 3lb rise is tolerable and he looks like he will relish the step up to 7f now.

LiveScore Selection: Robasta

5.20pm - World Pool Handicap (5f)

One from left-field in the finale as MUKER has been frustrating in four runs this season for the Philip Makin team.

He won a Group 3 over this 5f trip at Dundalk in October and that was a smart performance. He has flattered to deceive a bit this season but his latest Doncaster run was better and that was against older horses.

He has dropped 2lb now, sports new cheekpieces and could thrive back in amongst his three-year-old peers if the headgear has a positive effect.

LiveScore Selection: Muker
